Facilitating Interdisciplinary Research

We advance interdisciplinary research and clinical best practice by facilitating collaboration among elite researchers both emerging and venerable, within and across all six health sciences schools.

Our areas of focus include

Research experience for investigators at all stages
Our annual Poster Showcase convenes undergraduate, graduate, and professional students; postdoctoral fellows; and faculty members to present their original research or interventions in the factors that influence health and well-being.

Administrative support for innovative, multidisciplinary research
We support researchers in areas including trauma management, global health, dementia, oral health and comorbidity, and speech-language pathology—just to name a few.

Leadership summits
We gather interdisciplinary faculty, administrators and executives from across the University to address issues common across classrooms, labs, and administrative units.

Local community engagement
We facilitate faculty and student collaborative efforts with Pitt’s Community Engagement Centers, which provide high-quality community health education and preventive care for members of Pittsburgh communities.
